Ernest Cline - Books Review

Hey, guys!
Today I'm trying something new. I'm reviewing two books at once today. The two books in questions are : Armada and Ready Player One, both written by American novelist Ernest Cline.

So here we go:

1) Ready Player One (published in 2011)
 
   Ready Player One is the first of two books published by part-time American novelist and full time geek, Ernest Cline.
   The book is set in the year 2044, a dystopian future  which is facing a global energy crisis from the depletion of fossil fuels due to overpopulation, and global warming causing widespread social problems and economic stagnation. The citizens of this apocalyptic world use submersive technology to escape their lives to live inside a video game called as the OASIS. The OASIS is a virtual reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (or an MMORPG).
   When the creator of this video game, James Halliday, suddenly dies, leaving behind a set of clues that lead to infinite riches and full control of the OASIS, players from across the world must join the forces to stop the evil Innovative Online Industry (IOI) from privatising the safe haven of the people from all around the world.
   The book is full of hints and references to comic books, (like X-Men and Justice League etc.), movies, (like Blade Runner, WarGames, Monty Python etc.) and even classic video and arcade games (like Pac-Man and Dungeons of Daggorath etc.). The book even finds place for a gut-wrenching love story in the background, which doesn't seem forced at all. In shor, it is a delightful book for both Geeks and non-Geeks alike. Adding the fact that the book is being made into a movie by Steven Spielberg himself, I give Ready Player  One a 4.5/5






2) Armada (published in 2015)

  Armada is the second book written by Ernest Cline and is not a sequel to Ready Player One.
  The novel revolves around a young boy named Zack Lightman. Zack is a kid with anger management problems. Zack also loves playing video games. His favourite video game is an online flight simulator called Armada.
   When he is recruited by a top-secret government agency just outside the school, he uncovers a large conspiracy theory involving various pop-culture films, his video game obsession, aliens and most importantly, his long dead father.
   In this book Cline plays on the emotional aspects of a person recruited to fight aliens and coping up with losses in a very witty manner. He adds his usual references to various pop culture items, movies and video games. However, unlike Ready Player One, Armada is a novel that caters more to the gaming geeks and not all types of geeks and that is why I thought of this book as a step down from the wonderfully awesome Ready Player One.
I give Armada a 4/5.

    Listen up kiddo. When u are writing a review of a book,you should not forget to attach some sort of reference to the book(Like certain lines which define the essence of the book). And work on ur site design.

Hey guys! So, last night I watched Ingmar Bergman's 1957 masterpiece, The Seventh Seal. The film  is largely in the Swedish language. and is perhaps one of the most deeply profound, complex, and brilliant films I have seen.  The film follows a knight, Antonius Block (Max Von Sydow), and his squire, J (Gunnar Bjornstrand), as they return home from the Crusades. Wonder Woman 84 - Spoiler Free Review

 Hey guys! So... I haven't done one of these in a while huh. Well, I just saw Wonder Woman 84 and it's the only superhero blockbuster comic book movie I have seen all year... quite literally. So given that, it's probably the best movie in that genre I saw all year. Wake Up, Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (Spoiler Free Review)

 What an apt movie name to revive this blog with, huh? Hey guys. I started this blog when I was 15, obsessed with movies and regularly reading and writing.
